What We Do
Active Release Technique (ART)
ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Practitioners use their hands to diagnose, locate and treat shortened structures, adhesions and break up scar tissue to return tissues to physiological function while removing any impediments within or around the effected tissue. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overuse and repetitive injury.
Many people do not realize there are MANY styles of acupuncture varying in diagnosis, needle technique and philosophy. Let us determine which style will give you what you need. We are constantly evolving, training and improving- We specialize in Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Dry-Needling for pain conditions. For neurological conditions and stroke rehab, we combine body needling with the various systems of scalp acupuncture and physical rehab. For internal conditions, prolonged illness, auto-immune and fertility we utilize Traditional Chinese Medicine, Master Tung’s Acupuncture and Japanese Acupuncture systems.
Orthopedic “Dry-Needling” Acupuncture
A more modern and western approach to acupuncture based on anatomical structure and function. It involves orthopedic assessments to diagnose the imbalanced muscles and meridian groups. The needling focuses on traditional acupuncture points, local tender points (ashi points), trigger points, motor points, scar tissues, and adhesions. We can address the muscle tears or inflammation directly. Orthopedic acupuncture is great for acute and chronic muscle injuries due to trauma and athletic injuries. It is very effective for performance and post-surgical rehabilitation.
When practiced by a skilled provider, Chinese herbal medicine, is very powerful in diagnosing various systemic dysfunctions at the root of a myriad of seemingly unconnected symptoms. Instead of taking a medication for every symptom we can provide a custom combination of herbal medicines to actually treat the diagnosed pattern to actually resolve, reverse or slow the progress of any number of serious disorders. From mental and emotional to auto-immune, dermatological, digestive, and cancer support there are many tools to support the body in fighting and overcoming any condition that challenges it.
Shonishin pediatric acupuncture (sho=little, ni=children, shin=needle) is a specialized form of treatment for infants and children that became renowned in the 1700s in the Osaka region of Japan. To this day, Japanese parents regularly bring children for shonishin treatment, and the shonishin approach is increasing in popularity around the world.
