Two lenses, one plan

Here the Western lens leads, with the classical lens alongside.

The Western lensAnatomy, physiology, biomechanics

A gentle current

A mild current between selected needles is thought to stimulate nerves and muscles, and to prolong and deepen the effect of the points, more steadily than the needle alone. It is used when appropriate; not every visit needs it.

In eye care
Added to selected points alongside M48 micro acupuncture and scalp acupuncture.
In stroke and nerve recovery
Used on weak muscles and the nerves that supply them, together with scalp acupuncture and movement rehab.
In pain
Added to orthopedic needling where steady stimulation of a muscle or nerve helps.

The classical lensChannels, patterns, the five phases

Where there is free flow

A classical maxim says that where there is free flow there is no pain, 通則不痛. The current strengthens the effect of the points chosen for your pattern, to move qi and blood along the channel.

How we work: one plan

Added when appropriate to eye care, to stroke and neurological recovery, and to orthopedic visits.

What it adds

Once the needles are in, small clips connect selected pairs to a low-level stimulator. The current is thought to stimulate nerves and muscles, and to deepen and prolong the effect of the points, more steadily than the needle alone. It is used when appropriate; not every visit needs it.

Questions people ask

What does it feel like?

A light tapping or buzzing at the needles. The current is set low and turned up only as far as is comfortable for you.

Is it safe for everyone?

Not quite. Tell us if you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, a seizure disorder, or are pregnant, and we will plan around it.

Often part of care for

45 conditions in our library list this as part of how we work with them. It is always one part of a plan chosen from your assessment.
